R. J. Smith, RIP

Dear Folks:

It is with great sadness that I note the passing of R. J. Smith. He was one of the participants in Murray and Joey Rothbard’s “livingroom crowd” so noted because we would often gather at their apartment in Manhattan to sing songs, tell jokes, play the board game “Risk” and have some of the most edifying conversations on everything under the sun, but in particular politics, economics and libertarianism. My lifelong adherence to Austro-libertarianism was forged therein.

To the best of my recollection the members of this little group include Randy Barnett, Walter Block, Roy Childs, Bill Evers, Walter Grinder, John Hagel, Ron Hamowy, Karl Hess, Leonard Liggio, Larry Moss, Jerry O’Driscoll, David Padden, Joe Peden, Ralph Raico, Frank Richter, Mario Rizzo, Murray and Joey Rothbard, Fr. James Sadowsky, SJ, Joe Salerno, Robert J. Smith, Larry White, Jerry Woloz.

If I have left anyone out, please let me know as I’d like to have as complete a list of this group as possible.

Best regards,

Walter
