Have a “pew pew” Father’s Day!

“The proper remedy for a finding that an agency failed to comply with the APA’s procedural requirements is vacatur of the unlawful agency action.”

The funny part about the Biden Administration’s anti-firearms tactics is that they actually don’t fear the possibility that NFA ’34 and GCA ’68, and therefore the BATFE itself, become problems in lieu of the Bruen ruling for “historical context” surrounding firearms laws.

If you keep prodding the hornet’s nest, eventually you’re going to regret it. But tyrants do tyrant things and so here we are.

The 5th Federal District Court ruled on Mock v. Garland yesterday.  Your pistol braces are legal again.

On that note, there is something “pew pew” related on sale for Father’s Day that I really think is a game changer for “identifying your target” in the dark. It is the Streamlight TLR-1 HL. This thing fits two 123A batteries in a relatively compact package and puts out 1,000 lumens of light.

Streamlight TLR-7

This light is so bright that it can actually wash out my optic on “auto” brightness. I also think it has a good combination of throw vs. flood. In the house, it’s not too much of an exaggeration to say someone turned the sun on at night if you’re in a room or a hallway.

Where I think this light really shines ( 😀 ) is on a “large format” pistol, especially with a pistol brace, or short barreled carbine. If you’ve ever had to deal with pressure switches, you know they’re the weakest link. The wires catch on stuff from nowhere, they don’t activate when you need them or they activate by accident giving away your position at the worst time. While the TLR-1 can use a Surefire-type pressure switch, I prefer the standard switch housing that provides for momentary-on on one side and constant-on on the other. Mounted on the underside of a short barrel with the “Picatinny” key, this would be the perfect placement for light activation with your support hand for 10” – 16″ barrels.

For this light to fit on a normal handgun, it would have to be a full-size standard pistol like a Glock 17, and you’d probably get some of the light lens extending past the barrel, depending on where the mount point is on the gun and the actual barrel length. For a compact pistol, I’d suggest the TLR-7, which is its little brother, with “only” 500 lumens driven by a single 123A battery.
