Ocasio-Cortez Badmouths “thoughts & prayers”

March 15, 2019

“Ocasio-Cortez hides her other hatreds. Sooner or later, they’ll come out of her mouth if they haven’t already done so.” (From a blog dated March 10, 2019.)

Ocasio-Cortez’s public response to the horrendous massacre in New Zealand is “What good are your thoughts & prayers when they don’t even keep the pews safe?”

What a terrible thing to say. What a cruel thing to say. What a heartless thing to say. What a revealing thing to say.

What a mistaken thing to say, because safety measures and providing support do not exclude empathy. Compassion and assistance are not mutually exclusive. There is good in both.

Ocasio-Cortez calls for “solidarity” with Puerto Rico. This includes the idea of mutual support. How then can she not endorse compassion and empathy for those who suffer from the New Zealand tragedy?

Does this remark signal peak Ocasio-Cortez? Is it all downhill from here on?
