More Hate Mail

March 27, 2021

Charlene hearkens back to our series on the abominable USPS to note:

Everyone hates the Post Office. Rightly so. It’s filled with morons and incompetents. Last week when I picked up my chicks from a local hatchery, my chicken lady told me she’d love to expand their business. But they cannot ship to anyone outside of the upper midwest. In the upper Midwest they can use DHL shipping, but if they ship with the USPS, the post office kills their chicks by letting them sit in the plant for a week. The lady I bought books from on Ebay told me she’s losing customers because the USPS takes a month or more to deliver her packages. My package from this vendor sat in a postal facility for FOUR weeks before moving on.

I’ve started documenting my bad delivery experiences, complete with tracking numbers. I’ve written the Postmasters of the facilities responsible and—big surprise!—got no response. There is simply no consequence for bad service.

I think it’s time to make some consequences. I’d love to see a website that tracks the Post Offices incompetence. Sort of like an Amazon customer rating or Yelp. Not only could someone document their bad experiences with the USPS, but it should name names: who is the Postmaster and the MDO (plant manager) responsible, so we can track them if they get promoted or transferred to spread their incompetence. There could be a Monthly Top Ten Worst Post Offices Award.

Charlene asks whether any of LRC’s readers are

capable of designing such a website? It could be a very profitable website if it were to have some clever or funny catches that would inspire frequent visits to the site. And thankfully, (or not) the USPS is an unending source of insanity, so that shouldn’t be too hard.

I remain mystified that in this age of instant communication, FedEx, UPS, and online payment of bills, our taxes subsidize the monumental boondoggle that is the USPS. Let’s stamp out this bureaucracy!
