It’s Almost Time for Memorial Day Blasphemy
May 9, 2018
I have already seen some churches advertising their patriotic services for the Sunday before Memorial Day. One large church in central Florida is having an Army chaplain speak and will be honoring Afghan war vets. The service will be pure military idolatry I’m sure. Would Jesus celebrate Memorial Day? I answer that question here.
Laurence M. Vance [send him mail] writes from central Florida. He is the author of The Free Society; War, Christianity, and the State: Essays on the Follies of Christian Militarism; War, Empire, and the Military: Essays on the Follies of War and U.S. Foreign Policy; King James, His Bible, and Its Translators, and many other books. His newest book is The U.S. Proxy War in Ukraine.
