Trump-proposed deportations

September 22, 2024

Writes Mark Higdon:

Lew, the following is a comment I made (pseudonymously) on a YouTube video discussing Trump’s stated intention to conduct mass deportations of illegal invaders.

Deportations? I propose the following. Lock down the borders. Hard. All of them. By whatever means needed and available. Then, offer all illegal invaders a set amount of money (Sweden is offering $34,000 ea.) to leave the US and never come back (locked-down borders as insurance against the latter). Whatever the payouts total, the cost will be finite, and less to the US than the ongoing status-quo. For all who decline the voluntary, paid exit offer: the hardest deportations that the law allows, as quickly as the law allows them.

I would add here: or an indefinite stay in a one-star hoosegow.
