Hi Lew,
.
George Smith is wrong. Who listens to jazz and Gershwin today? People listen to pop music. The music of my youth, the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, still holds up. The music resonates with Americans; otherwise, it wouldn’t be used in commercials.
.
American music to me, today, consists of movie soundtracks like those of  John Williams and Howard Shore. Yes, I know that Howard Shore is Canadian, but it’s the same culture.
.
Jazz and Gershwin belong to a younger generation. They are dead.
