Let’s get out the non-vote

Writes Kevin Duffy:

Hi Lew,

A friend just tried to convince me to vote next Tuesday, especially since I live in a swing state.  My response:

As Mark Twain said, “If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.”

First of all, it’s pretty obvious from the Biden administration that the president doesn’t run things.  (In Biden’s cognitive state, he couldn’t run a lemonade stand.)  Who runs things is a discussion for another day, but I’ll leave it at that for now.

Second, the choice (if it mattered) is between a Marxist and a mercantilist.  Both terrible on economics, but I’ll grant you that the mercantilist is the lesser of two evils.

Third, what are the odds my single vote alters the election?  One in 10 million?  For the time and energy spent, I’d rather do other things that will advance the cause of liberty.

Finally, I received a post card from VotingMattersPA.org.  It read:

<<Dear Kevin,

Thank you for being a voter.  Your vote matters!  Who you vote for is private, but whether you vote is public record.  Please vote in the Tuesday, November 5 election!>>

Seriously??  Why the pressure?  This is like the vaccines.  If they worked, they would have practically sold themselves.  Unfortunately, they didn’t, which meant the political class first tried using the carrot; when that failed they used the stick.  If voting works, i.e. the most informed get out and vote and the least informed stay home, why the pressure to vote?  Why are they trying so hard to bring in marginal voters?  Are they in fact revealing that elections are just for show?

These people can’t stand that people like me refuse to participate in their very expensive, distracting, infantile charade.  The fact they’re resorting to pressure tactics shows their desperation.  It also shows that non-voting is the ultimate protest and it drives the political establishment mad.

When the political class attacks you, smears you, coerces you, gaslights you and tries to discredit you, you know you’re on the right track.
