Janet Mills signed the vaccine bill a year ago. But the truly sad news was that we had a single issue referendum to veto it this March, and the majority of Maine voters who turned out (it was cleverly scheduled during the Democratic primary and not a general election), rejected the referendum. So, in the moment of truth, it was our neighbors who endorsed mandatory vaccination against conscience or science. It’s been a truly surreal spring in the Land of The Free, especially for those of us in Vacationland. Evidently “The Way Life Should Be” is under a jackboot.
