Your Taxes Pay a Professor of “Art Crime,” I Kid You Not

June 30, 2020

I thought at first that a megalomaniac was pulling our leg when she claimed to be “an assistant professor of art crime.”

“Art crime?” That would be all of modern “art,” right?

But no. Erin Thompson “teaches” “art crime” at “CUNY’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan.” “CUNY” is the City University of New York, which means our taxes pay for this utter waste of time and “scholarship.”

But OK, we might be able to get behind a paper on, even if not a whole department of, “art crime,” as ol’ Erin describes it: “As America’s only full-time professor of art crime,”—thank God—“I study the damage done to humanity’s shared heritage through looting, theft, and the deliberate destruction of art.”

Alas, her “studies” leave her plenty of time for more sinister pursuits, such as advising the thugs  destroying monuments, “...I just have to say… use chain instead of rope and it’ll go faster…”

Or, as Mr. Anonymous, who sent me this article, put it, “How does an Assistant Professor of Art Crime keep herself employed? By telling people how to topple statues.”

Here’s hoping someone soon topples this Marxist hoax of a “professor.”

Mr. A also asks,

Tangentially, have you noticed that a lot of modern artists try to make a statement, rather than making something that is beautiful? E.g. https://teara.govt.nz/en/video/26202/the-virgin-in-the-condom

Oh, indeed I have. Modern “art” is nothing more than a thinly disguised political spiel. No wonder it’s uniformly ugly, sordid and depressing when it isn’t outright obscene.

I side with Mr. A when he observes,

God made beautiful things, and a wise person follows his example.
