Charlie empathized with the parent in Serfs Rising Up! because a friend “and some others are planning to engage their school board regarding CRT soon.”
He advises those similarly tangling with Our Rulers:
Video record everything – multiple cameras and angles as much as possible.
Be tough, not intimidated.
Recommend dress rehearsals w/ someone playing the role of the school board. The SB is likely trained and rehearses handling “belligerent” crowds.
Have someone to act as security. Their job is to maintain the big picture, warn if law enforcement suddenly shows up or makes a move, run “accidental” and/or passive interference as desired/needed.
If possible, get folks from church to show up, even if they live in a different school district. Have them dispersed throughout to cheer and clap – a kind of counter intimidation.
Expect to be nervous, esp speaker(s). Expect to shake – it’s normal. Push through. Can be a very emotional situation, but try to remain calm as possible.
And Mark Carroll expounds on another point: if friends are accompanying you,
make sure those people do not sit together – spread yourselves out in the audience to make it look like the applause (or boos, whatever) are all independent and not a small group of collaborators working together.
