We Can’t Trust “Good” Republicans

South Dakota governor Kristi Noem, a Republican, has been one of the better Republican governors, perhaps even the best one, when it comes to doing as little as possible to destroy individual liberty and property rights during the Covid-19 insanity. But never forget that we cannot trust “good” Republicans.

In the November election, voters in South Dakota approved the legalization of marijuana for recreational use. However, now a judge in the state has ruled that the voter-approved initiative is unconstitutional. Gov. Noem, who supported the lawsuit challenging the initiative, said that voters made “the wrong choice” by legalizing marijuana.

Thankfully, the legalization of marijuana for medical use, which South Dakota voters also approved, is not affected by the judge’s ruling. Not because I want the people of South Dakota to smoke marijuana, but because I believe in freedom. It is none of the government’s businesses what people want to smoke, eat, inhale, snort, or inject into their bodies. We own ourselves; the government does not own us. And we don’t need a government nanny to tell us how to live our life.
