The U.S.-UK-Canada-Australia Axis

I have been wondering about the institutional means by which the policies of these states are coordinated. There is a uniformity that is surprising. For example, Tony Blair’s support of George Bush’s Iraq War was very strong. Canada’s Stephen Harper touts the neocon line. Prime Minister John Howard in Australia firmly supported the Iraq War. Their anti-Iran and pro-Israel policies are close.

Each country is different and each one has leaders who face electoral procedures of various kinds, but the people selected to lead then fall in line with one another to a surprisingly large degree. The neocon influence has been widespread. The policy uniformity in the face of seemingly disparate interests and procedures to pick leaders is the phenomenon that’s so interesting. Elections don’t seem to matter. The policy unity is coming from other sources. The people chosen to wield power come from other sources. How exactly is this achieved?

There are several possibilities that each to some extent may be true; they are not mutually exclusive. Is it the case that they all view their interests as the same or as rising and falling with those of the U.S. government so that they decide to support the U.S. policy positions? Is it the case that the U.S. government applies carrots and sticks to align them? Is it the case that they coordinate through conferences and secret communications not made public? Is it the case that they all are influenced by global lobbying efforts of special interest groups?

Does AIPAC have foreign counterparts? There are AIJAC in Australia and other such lobbying groups in the other countries.

A global military-industrial mechanism is the UK-Canada-Australia-U.S. Quadrilateral Conference.

“The conference is being hosted by the ADS (UK), in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Defence & Security Industries (CADSI), the Australian Industry & Defence Network (AIDN), and National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) of the USA. It is timed to coincide with the world-renowned Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEi) Exhibition being held in London 15-18 September.”

Another institution is the Quadrilateral Logistics Forum, discussed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. This was established in 2004.

I am only scratching the surface. What we find is that the Empire has bureaucracies funded and kept alive by taxes that form links and chains across countries and states. They all supply policy options and personnel available to the leaders of each government. Political campaign contributions influence the legislators selected too. Every state, region and district of any voting importance has military installations. We get right back to the concept of a Deep State, but in this case we have a Deep Empire.

This beast could be slain in theory by cutting off its funds. The beast cannot survive without taxes. In practice, however, this can’t be done by ordinary electoral politics and voting as these are controlled by the beast.
