The U.S. Navy Sex Scandal in Bahrain

The U.S. Navy has been investigating its sailors in Bahrain. They are accused of trafficking, housing, and pimping female prostitutes. And I don’t mean just a few bad apples. “Some evidence suggests the involvement of U.S. sailors was widespread. One accused chief told NCIS agents in 2018 that he believed up to 15 percent of sailors assigned to Bahrain were housing prostitutes in their off-post apartments.” All in a day’s work for members of the U.S. military. As I have said for years now, it is the U.S. military that keeps in operation the network of brothels around the world. And yet, conservative Christians are some of the biggest supporters of the military. I have seen and heard of whole churches applauding when a young man or woman “surrenders” to military service.

The question that will never be asked is this: What are U.S. sailors doing in Bahrain in the first place? That is the real scandal.
