The Marketplace’s Beauty

Tyranny has devoured Indiana as retailers there

[deal] with a new statewide face covering mandate to slow the spread of COVID-19.

But one courageous owner of a

floral and gift shop is at odds with local health officials because of a strong stance against the mask order. … Bobbi Shane posted on Facebook an offer of free snacks and drinks to customers coming into her store so they could remain maskless and not be in violation of governor Holcomb’s order while shopping there.

I don’t know which is more admirable: our heroine’s ingenuity or her generosity (and no wonder: “Fields Of Grace Floral Boutique, in Bluffton, IN, is a faith based floral and gift shop.” May God bless Ms. Shane’s obedience to Him rather than dictators!)

[Ms.] Shane says she’s not technically violating the order, says she is not making COVID worse and thinks she’s helping her customers. “We try to make it the best most inviting place that we can and I don’t feel like wearing a mask is getting that job done”…

Naturally, her treating patrons pleasantly riles Our Rulers: Ms. Shane

has drawn the ire of the Wells County health department. … The boutique has been put on notice that if it doesn’t stop the free food promotion as a way around the use of masks it could face penalties.

Isn’t that oh-so-typical of Leviathan? Promulgate a badly written, poorly considered and illegal “order,” then punish those dissidents who circumvent it with panache and kindness.

You may want to patronize Fields of Grace if you’re near Bluffton, Indiana; if not, you can order online. Or support Ms. Shane with a message on her “Testimonial” webpage.

Thank you, lovely lady, for defying such despotism and for beautifying not only floral arrangements but the market, too.
