Got a notice in the mail from Omaha … We have not activated our Economic Impact Payment Card (Visa debit card from DC), the previous stimulus payment. Never got it in the mail. [A friend] got his a month ago or so. Big scam for Visa. They get a cut of the action. DC could have just sent out  Treasury checks, but noooooo, Visa pays Congressmen campaign donations for the lucrative EIPC debit card business.

So I call the 800 number given on the letter from Visa in Omaha to tell them we didn’t get the EIPC. Computer voice asks for number on our EIPC to continue. Total Catch-22 run around. Will mail letter back to Omaha asking for new EIPC or better yet, a check! …

And of course all the purchases made with the EIPC/Visa debit cards will be tracked and data recorded.

Last time the government sent out stimulus checks, real checks; folks used them to pay off debt or add to their savings. The people didn’t spend the money. “That won’t do!” said the Big Club. So now we get debit cards.
