The Enemy of All Mankind Proves Itself So Yet Again
September 8, 2015
Maybe it was Labor Day that inspired such schizophrenia, but I visited a church this weekend that prayed for Our Rulers (“…give them wisdom, oh, God, and bless them as they administer justice…” Really? What are you smoking, Christian?) though the sermon mourned at length over the refugees flooding Europe. You would never know the former caused the latter.
Meanwhile, an Egyptian billionaire wants to buy and develop land to help these pitiable people. “Greece or Italy sell me an island, I’ll call its independence and host the migrants and provide jobs for them building their new country,” Naguib Sawiris wrote on Twitter. But while his plan is “feasible,” he acknowledges numerous roadblocks, all of them governmental: not only would Greek and Italian politicians balk at parting with territory though our hero dangles their favorite bait, money, but there’s also “figuring out jurisdiction and customs regulations.” Yeah, even desperate refugees can’t live without those.
