Thanks a Billion

March 20, 2009

Writes Jesse Johnson:

just wanted to say thanks for lewrockwell.com and The Mises Institute.
I was struck deeply, by the impact that free-market ideas have had on
my life recently, while I read Laurence Vance’s article today and
clicked the link within to your article “None Dare Call It Genocide.”
Without articles like those and many others I would not have the sense
of morality that I appreciate nor the capability of understanding
impressive works like Power and Market, The Real Lincoln, and The
Ethics of Liberty. It has been about one and a half years since my
former boss and now uncle-in-law, Peter, lent me the most confusing
book I’d ever undertaken at that time when I told him I was impressed
by Ron Paul. He let me borrow his copy of Rothbard’s The Ethics of
Liberty and it truly changed my life after I had time to let it all
sink in (it wasn’t until I read some less heavy books, including Atlas
Shrugged, that everything was put into perspective). I sometimes
refer to myself as being 1.5 Rothbard years old. Though this
conversion from numb-minded young person to defender of liberty has
doomed me to a life of cynicism I feel all the much happier for it.
It would not have been possible if not for the work of your blog, it’s
contributors, everyone involved at the Mises Institute, and countless
other influences. Thanks a billion, though we can adjust that for
inflation when that no longer holds such high value.
