Reality Hits the Star Chamber

“...[A] recorded jailhouse telephone call,” “pages of notes that Ms. Winner kept” and “a peculiar query” that the defendant “plugged” ” into an internet search engine last year” comprise some of the evidence that prosecutors presented at “a detention hearing” for Reality Winner yesterday. Ms. Winner, as you’ll recall, is the latest hero to reveal what the spooks at the NSA are doing on our dime.

Yeah, I’d rather she be as enthralled with liberty as Ed Snowden; aside from her alleged revelations of the NSA’s skulduggery, she’s not a sympathetic character. But Leviathan’s case against her–damning her with her own words in violation of the Fifth Amendment–ought to scare all of us.
