Re: Sitting Ducks

The suggestion that school children might be protected from a shooting at their school by providing them bullet-resistant blankets reminds me of the post-World War II system proposed by the government to protect kids from an atomic bomb attack in their city. Known as “duck-and-cover,” children were instructed that, in the event of a nuclear bomb attack, they were to hide under their desks and cover their heads. Yeah, for sure that would work – probably created by the same guy who told us that if we just closed our eyes, monstrous beings would disappear!

I have often said that, when the decline and fall occurs, just make certain you are not standing beneath an institution. Perhaps I should modify my advice to add: and hold an umbrella over you.
