Laurence:  whenever any of my students used the word “fair” in their arguments for or against a given legal proposition, I emphatically informed them: “we will not be using the four-letter ‘f-word’ in this class!  If you think something is ‘fair’ or ‘unfair,’ please identify the facts and principles upon which you rely for your conclusions, and analyze thoroughly. Do not just resort to ‘teenager justice.'”
