Nanny State Republicans

In Florida. A bill (SB 548) has been introduced in the Florida State Senate “prohibiting a person from smoking a tobacco product in a motor vehicle in which a child under 13 years of age 6 is present.” Although a Democrat introduced it, a Republican is a cosponsor. The bill was referred to two committees. It should be noted that Republicans control the Florida legislature and therefore have majorities on the committees. The Regulated Industries Committee voted on the bill on March 11. Four of the eight Republicans on the committee voted in favor of the bill. The Health Policy Committee voted on the bill on March 31. Three of the four Republicans on the committee voted in favor of the bill (2 did not vote).

Why do I pick on Republicans? I answered that here in 2011.
