My brief encounter with Ted Kennedy
By David Kramer

The year was 1974. The place was Forest Hills Tennis Stadium (back when the Forest Hills Open was actually played in Forest Hills). I was 19 years old at the time (and a far-Left Liberal). I was working behind the scenes for the caterer of the event.
Sen. Kennedy passed by the table I was working at and asked me and the other person who I was working with:
“Excuse me. Do you know where the bathroom is?”
Looking back now (as a voluntaryist) to that brief encounter in 1974, I can only think that at that moment he was going to do in the bathroom what he spent his entire professional life doing on the American people.”
