The media and those who watch the news love stories like this: someone in the military comes home from overseas and surprises his family. In this case a woman in the Air Force came home on leave on her son’s last day of school before Christmas break (probably called Holiday break in the public school) and surprised her son at school. The school was in on it and made a big deal about it. The kid got to hug his mom for the first time in five months. The woman had been in Texas training for nearly half a year. “When I saw the look on his face it hit me, it hit me hard how much I missed him,” said the woman. Although this happened a year ago, the same thing will no doubt happen this Thanksgiving or Christmas. It just happened recently at another school.
But what is really going on here? Military moms are being praised for abandoning their families. The military destroys families. The teachers at the school should have been asking things like:
Why did you abandon your son?Why did you join the military in the first place?
