I think you will enjoy this much as I did. If you’re a codger like me, this will unleash a flood of linguistic memories. If you’re younger, you may understand why your seniors are so nonplussed at times.
My favorite is the “starving Armenians.” That was how my mother prompted me to eat everything on my plate (as if I needed any prompting!) and I doubt she had any idea who the Armenians were. They certainly had a powerful (but not powerful enough) PR lobby in the U.S.
He starts off with some really old phrases (even for me!). And what a great last line! (don’t peek ahead…) Read it.
