I notice that the “NeverTrump” contingent of bigwigs in the Republican Party reportedly abandoned their plot to get all of the Trump delegates “released” from voting for him in accordance with all the primary election results the same day that Trump chose a very establishmentarian, pro-war, Likud Party-worshipping running mate. It reminded me of how Reagan bought off the same crowd by appointing someone very similar — former CIA Director George H.W. Bush as his running mate. Let’s hope lightning doesn’t strike twice if Trump is elected: Reagan was shot by a would-be assassin just 69 days into his presidency.
