Honoring Their Masters

May 7, 2015

In a Baptist Church no less. Back where I used to live in Pensacola, the Marcus Pointe Baptist Church is still having its blasphemous annual law enforcement appreciation Sunday. The church has done this for about 20 years.

“Senior Pastor Gordon Godfrey Jr. was flanked by two Escambia County Sheriff’s Office motorcycles on the church’s stage and horse-mounted deputies were stationed outside. Pensacola Police K-9 handler Bruce Harris put on a show for the congregation.”

I note also that officers from the federal government also turned out to be honored. I wonder if this included TSA goons who like to grope kids? The church used donations to buy such rewards as an $800 AR-15 rifle, as if cops need even more firepower to shoot us with. The congregation gave the 250 cops in attendance “repeated standing ovations.”

This is sick, sick, sick. What is it that Christians appreciate about law enforcement? All the revenue-raising tickets they give out? The unarmed people they kill? The property they seize? The drug laws they enforce? The seat belt laws they enforce? The doughnuts they eat? What is it they appreciate so much about law enforcement?

Update: Thanks to LRC reader M.C. for adding an image to my questions. Another image he added to the questions, that of a man beaten to death by cops, is too graphic to show here. Contact me for it.
