GOP: the G stands for Green

Here are a few of the more outrageous provisions hidden in The Energy Bill which Bush and the GOP are trumpeting as one of the their great accomplishments (along with the transportation bill, renewal of the PATRIOT Act, and CAFTA):

An increase in amount of “biofuel” (e.g. ethanol) that gasoline sold in the US must contain.

The creation of a new cabinet-level advisory committee charged with developing national policy to address climate change and to promote technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The extension of daylight savings time by one month.

Instructions to the State Department to develop a foreign policy to help developing countries reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Authorizes spending $40 million of taxpayer funds to develop hydrogen fuel vehicles.

Authorizes spending over a $100 million of taxpayer money on “alternative fueled” school buses.

And the same Congress which was so outraged by the Kelo decision voted to give the federal government eminent domain powers to size private property to construct new power lines!

I am missing something or has Al Gore become a Republican?
