Glenn Beck Has (Now) Left the Republican Party Four Times

Glenn Beck “leaving” the Republican party three days ago ruffled some feathers in the establishment.  Last night Fox News aired a hit segment (see below) on Beck and, meticulously “fair and balanced” that it is, didn’t allow Beck or someone sympathetic to him on the air to give his side of the story.  (This of course is their standard procedure with Ron Paul, so welcome to the club, Glenn.)

One has to wonder why O’Reilly and Rove wasted air time.  As the 2016 election gets closer, Glenn will no doubt be back in the fold again.  In fact, let’s write the predictable talking points for Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Karl Rove, and Glenn Beck come mid-October of 2016 in the final weeks of the Jeb Bush campaign:

“The most important election of our lifetimes!”

“If Hillary Clinton wins, it’s the end of the country!”

“I’m just like you.  Jeb Bush wasn’t my first choice, but just like after 9-11, we have to pull together for the sake of the country!  Those who aren’t with us are with ISIS!”

And just like Mitt Romney, Jeb will crash and burn.  (Even after all the contrived outrage over Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail account, Betfair still has her well ahead of Jeb Bush in terms of current odds of winning the presidency.)  In the aftermath, Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Rove, and Beck will once again walk away counting their million$.

And who can blame them?  It’s a fabulous gravy train that has pushed Limbaugh’s net worth into the $400 million range.  There’s seemingly no end to the suckers who are willing to play Charlie Brown to GOP Lucy’s perennially disappearing small government football (see below) and end up flat on their backs wondering how they were fooled again.

James Ostrowski’s take on the corrupt conservative media class is always worth a revisit.
