Axios: “Tucker Carlson Ready to Torch Fox News”

May 8, 2023

Absolutely do it, Tucker. But there won’t be much torching if Tucker doesn’t get on a platform that can eventually compete head to head with Fox. Newsmax is on at least ten cable and both digital-satellite systems (dish, DirecTV). Pulling a Trump and starting a new Web/social-media platform such as Truth Social with no other major draws on it is not the route. Newsmax could build a formidable prime time by replacing the moron Eric Bolling with Tucker, replacing Chris Plante with Dan Bongino (move Plante to Greta Van Susteren’s time slot and kick soporific Greta to the curb), and then replace Greg Kelly with Megyn Kelly (if she’s really turned a 180 against the establishment [all past transgressions forgiven], otherwise forget her). The money should be good enough for the new talent and Fox would have a solid competitor that could eventually suck away a nice fat portion of its audience. Floating slightly and permanently under MSNBC’s numbers could be a real fate for the Murdochs if Newsmax took such a turn. Fox’s only remaining appeal would be mostly to warmongers, deep staters, and a few others. Good luck appealing to just that crowd, which would be divided between Fox, MSNBC, and CNN.

Given that all this makes too much sense, we can be assured it will probably never happen. Big egos and the usual incompetence will prevent it.
