Adam Schiff Beats a Dead Horse

Adam Schiff: “…if we don’t impeach him [Trump], that sends a message that this kind of conduct, this obstruction of justice, this kind of willing use of the help of a foreign adversary, all of the lies and cover-up, that this is non-impeachable.”

Trump didn’t obstruct justice in any way, shape or form. He cooperated with Mueller voluminously. Neither Schiff nor a Democrat majority in the House can prove that count. They can’t make it stick. If they impeach on that count, they’ll lose politically and they’ll lose in the Senate. They themselves will look bad.

Mueller’s report reads (page 2) “…the investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”

Therefore, Schiff’s charge of “willing use of the help of a foreign adversary” likewise has no basis. Contacts with Russians were trivial and superficial; the anti-Trump forces have blown these contacts way out of proportion.

More importantly, there has never been a lawful basis for the FBI investigating Trump and his associates on this score in 2016, under the instigation of Brennan and the Obama administration using the Steele dossier as a pretext.

Mueller produced no evidence at all that Trump or his associates colluded with Russia, foreign Adversary or not. Mueller’s conclusion says this baldly: “…the investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”

Schiff lastly mentions “all of the lies and cover-up”. He’s making this up, using boilerplate from Watergate. There has been no cover-up of any crimes on the Trump campaign side, because there were no crimes of the campaign. Mueller didn’t come up with any such crimes. Paul Manafort committed some personal crimes in earlier years and so may have Michael Cohen. These are not connected to Trump or his campaign.

Mueller’s report discusses foreign campaign contributions and whether or not information is a thing of value under federal law prohibiting foreign campaign contributions. Mueller made much of the trivial Trump Tower meeting. But although spreading information is hard if not impossible to police, it’s very much secondary. The fact is that foreign interests pay money to their U.S. agents and lobbyists, who in turn make donations to U.S. candidates. Mueller found no such money transfers associated with the Trump campaign. On the other hand, Clinton and Podesta were involved in that political racket.

Adam Schiff isn’t yet letting go of his false beliefs. He continues to tell himself and the world a false story. He’s beating a dead horse.
