Timeless Christmas Classics

In this profoundly hostile, politically correct, secularized world in which we now live, here are three decidedly “unwoke” Old School classics from the Golden Days of Hollywood.

A Star In the Night won the 1945 Academy Award for Best Action Short Subject film (21:25). This appropriately named little masterpiece has a stellar cast of some of the finest character actors of the day.

Beyond Tomorrow (1940) is another enduring Christmas classic starring veteran character actors Harry Carey, Charles Winninger, C. Aubrey Smith, and Maria Ouspenskaya. Have a box of Kleenex on hand.

While there have have been numerous cinematic adaptations of Charles Dicken’s famous novella, A Christmas Carol, I believe that this 1951 version film above featuring the incomparable Alastair Sim is the best executed and memorable.
