Romney is pulling out of South Carolina and heading for Nevada. Ron Paul’s effort there (Nev.) is likely a factor.

Among other points, this shows that running a fifty state strategy against opponents who have scarce resources can affect the entire picture. (Even Romney has to conserve resources.) Ron Paul’s effort in one state has hurt Romney in another and will probably help Ron Paul in South Carolina.

A vigorous campaign in NY will force other candidates like McCain to spend money there and will weaken them elsewhere.

We shall see.
