Rothbard Was Right

January 9, 2004

Writes Scott Kauzlarich: “Practically since the day it happened, getting to the truth in the assassination of President Kennedy has been hindered because all parties involved have difficulty viewing the event without ideological bias. The left subtly blames reactionary forces and views the murder as an attempt to head off a progressive Kennedy reign. The right sees Oswald as a Marxist, representing the insidious nature of leftism, or dismisses all conspiracy theories out of hand because they originate from the left.

“With the recent passing of the 40th anniversary of JFK’s assassination, we were treated to both once again, as the major media again dipped its toe into the topic. Having digested most of it, the reporting left a lot to be desired. The only remarkable thing about the major media’s handling of JFK’s murder is how consistently they have defended the government’s lone-nut theory, despite the abundance of contradictory evidence.

“Very little has changed in the fifteen years since Murray Rothbard penned this insightful essay on the subject. It is worth a second look.”
