Tucker Carlson – Republic to Empire

January 14, 2026

Writes Bill Madden:
I clicked on this link in the middle of a long (I’m not an endurance reader) Ron Unz article (1/13/2026)/  I watched about fifteen minutes (I’m not an endurance viewer, either)
and was impressed with the subtle manner in which good, old Tucker explained our unfolding transition from a constitutional republic to an imperialistic empire while almost subliminally exposing the hypocrisy of our condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and our condemnation of China’s lust for Taiwan.
Tucker also warned about the distinct possibility of our grabbing more real estate than we could handle while corrupting from within like Rome et al.  He mentioned the need for quality humans to govern us as a requirement for responsible, structured growth.  Or, as I have always preached: “We need statesmen, not whores”.  Our rulers don’t want statesmen, however.  Our rulers want charismatic charlatans who will do what they are “influenced” to do.  Unfortunately, our rulers are almost always successful in having their candidates win the Democratic and Republican primaries because their money has a significant impact on the low voter turnouts in primary elections.  Our responsibility is to vote one of their candidates into office to run their country.  Our rulers make the decisions and the politicians execute the decisions without regard for the Constitution.
So, electing statesmen to office might prove as difficult as curing ignorance and apathy.
