Starve America into Submission

Writes Tim McGraw:

Hi Lew,  America Starved into Submission

I don’t think America will be starved into submission. There are plenty of people around to eat. I live in Healdsburg, CA. One of the girls who survived the Donner Party Survival Cannibal Party on Donner Lake that long cold snowy winter used to live just 1/2 a block south of our house.

She married Lyndsey Carson, the brother of Kit Carson. When Lyndsey went off to Texas for the Civil War, the Donner wife remained in Healdsburg. Lyndsey never came back.

The Donner woman built her own house on Fitch Street which stands today. She loved horses and never remarried. The Donner woman was tough. She rode her horse solo from Healdsburg to Kansas City and back across the deserts, mountains, plains, and Indian country. She did it twice! The Donner woman had family in Boston.

The Donner woman lived to be 103. The three-step concrete block in front of her old house (which has been restored and is now an Air B&B and always seems to be for sale) still stands with the iron ring at the top of it to tie up her horse by the street. She would climb the cement block to mount her horse.

So, no, we aren’t worried about famine here in Sonoma County. The most fertile place on Earth according to the famous agronomist Luther Burbank. Plus we always have cannibalism to fall back on.
