People’s reactions to the Orlando shooting shows how we all use paradigms to make sense out of life.

If you think government can solve every problem, this tragedy shows that we need more gun-control.

If you think government can’t solve any problem (and that there aren’t even “solutions” to anything in life, but only trade-offs–including things not involving government–that its “solutions” are futile at best and counter-productive at worst, it shows how useless agencies like the FBI are at protecting the public (the shooter had been known to the FBI as a potential terrorist since 2013); how ineffective previous gun-control measures were at preventing this; and how those measures may have been one of the CAUSES of this (it’s illegal in Florida for a civilian to carry a gun in any establishment that sells alcohol to be consumed on the premises).
