NATO Metastasis

March 22, 2017

Writes Wes Baker:

Lew,

Why in the world are these MNNA countries (Pentagram-ese for Major non-NATO) not a part of NATO?  If fierce, little Montenegro is so important, surely Japan and Australia are worthy of full membership.  Heck, the Atlantic is only an ocean away…  Where’s the inclusivity and diversity?

And who needs more paternalistic protection direction than places like Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Israel?  And don’t even get me started about Argentina.  A strategic bulwark against the ever creeping spread of Stalinism.

And one final question:  if there are 28 countries in this so-called Treaty why is down to one ophthalmologist from Kentucky refusing to punch the ticket?  Surely there’s some discussion amongst other members on who gets in and who stays on the sidelines in the vast ‘market’ for US, French and British arms producers?
