As far as I’m concerned, 3M owns its plant and it has the right to do whatever it pleases that’s in the long-run interest of its owners. And it ought to do so. That will also turn out to be in the long-run interest of the rest of us, because amicable trade relations are so important to us all. Free trade is therefore the most humanitarian policy to adopt.

The Florida guy has no argument. His job was to stock up on masks long before this virus even saw the light of day, and he didn’t. Tucker Carlson, it seems, gets all excited at times and veers off into inane economic ideas; but I do not ever listen to his program (or for that matter anyone else’s program), so he might be a great genius and benefactor to us all who has the occasional misstep as do we all.

Trump shouldn’t intervene to prevent export by 3M. That invites retaliation. It just reinforces government interventionism in general, which is nearly always wrong and counter-productive.

People do not understand the intricacies of distribution channels of large manufacturers.
