Joe Hill and Murray Rothbard
November 15, 2015
The famous union organizer was executed 100 years ago. A commie, he was probably guilty, though the death penalty is always wrong. But, as Murray Rothbard pointed out, “I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill Last Night” is still a great song. He knew all the words and sang it beautifully.
Many years ago, when a tax protester was burned to death in his house by the feds, Murray rewrote the song for his monthly Reason column. Not only did the mag refuse to run it, it fired Murray. By the way, Charles, “I Dreamed I Saw Murray Rothbard Last Night.”
If you have suggested lyrics, send them to me. I’ll blog the best.
