“Globalism Forbids Freedom of Speech”

Writes John Leo Keenan:

“Musk also announced that Starlink-parent SpaceX will provide free internet service to Brazilian users “until this matter is resolved.””

It’s wonderful he can do that.

Bolsonaro is a very powerful politician in Brazil.  He beats Lula in another election today.  A few years from now, he beats him by a larger margin.

If Brazil had the electoral college the U.S. has, Bolsonaro would have won the last election with a huge landslide.  As I remember, he won in all the states except in a poverty-stricken state in the far northeast of the country.  He won in Sao Paolo, Rio,  Brazilia, the South, West, and everywhere else but with a very small margin, and he lost in that one state by a large margin – and Lula won barely like that.  It makes our electoral college look good, doesn’t it?  It’s really unfair that he lost, that just this one poor (and more uneducated) state and zone determined the whole election.

So, Lula and Moraes and co. are afraid of Bolsonaro, of course.  They want to proscribe him, put him in jail if possible.  The problem, though, is that all those Brazilians voted for him.  So, they must be getting desperate if they are resorting to desperate measures that will only consolidate the support for Bosonaro and make it grow.

The fact is, though, that they can’t avoid it.  Bolsonaro beats Lula in another election unless Lula is doing great, but apparently (and as expected) he is not.  I haven’t followed their politics; Portuguese is close enough to Spanish so I can understand it (especially in writing form).  I pay more attention when it’s election time there.   It is amazing, and to his credit, that Bolsonaro did so well after his years in office, another reason why it’s unfair Lula won.  Due to the fact Lula won because of one poor state, many revolted too, angrily, and said “cheating.”  I guess Bolsonaro should have campaigned more in that state.  Bolsonaro left feeling an obvious pain for such a defeat, but it’s also to his credit that he left and actually respected the result.  Lula and Moraes are worried about Bolsonaro and his supporters and X is giving them a platform that is “hurting” them…
