Biden: High Gas Prices For ‘As Long As It Takes’ To Defeat Russia

There may actually be beneficial effects to Biden trying to tie high gas prices to the efforts to “Defeat Russia”. One is, this is a clear admission that the USG is not really “supporting Ukraine”, but rather directly making war on Russia. The other is, even if in reality the war is only a minor player in the rising costs of gas and other daily essentials, it is the first time since WWII that Americans are being told they are sacrificing their living standards for war. Having to face the hard fact that the warfare state is eroding their standard of living will hopefully help in creating anti-war allies among people of all ideologies.
