WWIII: Reprise

When I precipitously declared that the Mask War has morphed into the Jab Battle, Kevin Akesson reminded me that the serfs of Washington State are still fighting to free themselves. Head Cheese Jay Inslee enjoys his shiny new powers waaaaaaay too much to relinquish them; indeed, he jokes about the devastation he’s visited on his state. And the media’s lapdogs continue publishing propaganda on the virtues of diapers.

Equally infuriating, the anti-science dictators in Los Angeles County have revived their mandate on masks.

Dennis happened to be traveling the upper West and Midwest; he reports,

I live in Washington State. Fuhrer Inslee allowed the idiot public, who are dumb enough to listen to him, go maskless if they have been vaccinated. This is based on the “honor” system. LOL.

If you look at a county map of the elections most counties in WA are red. The populations of these counties hated Inslee before this nonsense. It probably isn’t safe for him to visit now. The further you are away from the Olympia to Seattle corridor the better you were during all of this. About the only place they were forcing masks were the big grocery stores in my town. There were a ton of places not requiring them so these all became my go to spots. We even had a bar stay open during the big lockdown at the start of all of this. They never required masks there during any of this. During the big shutdown you just had to stay in the back outside and keep the noise down.

Anyhow… I just returned from an RV trip. Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan (both upper and lower). Other than a random fanatic I only saw a large number of masks in a few spots. Oddly two of them were in  Idaho at Cabelas and Walmart in Post Falls. Really strange because we had been in Idaho last November and nobody was wearing masks. I didn’t expect to see them there and wound up being one of the few places a large number of people were wearing masks.  It was mainly all the employees. Most of the people shopping were maskless. It was so sad.

The only other place I came across was at Bell’s brewery “eccentric cafe” in downtown Kalamazoo, MI. Of all the places and states I went to I have no idea why they were doing this. We walked up to find a large line outside. We stood in back. A masked employee walked up to us and asked us if we wanted to sit outside or inside. We didn’t want to wait so we said whatever is available. She said both are available. I looked at her strangely, waiting for an explanation as to why there was a line. At this point they were taking a group inside at the front of the line and they asked them to put masks on until they got to their seats. I just laughed at that point. We walked across the street … where people were sitting at the bar and nobody was wearing masks. I have no idea why they would still be doing that nonsense at Bell’s but I wasn’t going to take part in it.

So… I mainly set up camp in rural areas but would venture into medium sized towns such as Kalamazoo everywhere we went. We drove through Chicago but didn’t want anything to do with that place. All in all it was nearly 100 percent normal. People were friendly. People were not wearing masks. People were not social distancing. Glad to see it. I have long thought that there was no difference between Republicans and Democrats. I did identify more with small town people and rural sensibilities, but their pro -stances turned me off. I didn’t believe in the lesser evil. I’ve changed my mind during this. I’m never going to be a rah rah Republican. [But] seeing totalitarianism come to the USA, the politicians not going along with it are nearly all Republicans. It is crazy. The left and the democrats are complete evil nutjobs.

The only time I went into Seattle during covidcon was the U district. My better half wanted to have lunch with her uncle. I was about to tell her “have fun” but after thinking about it for a second I got curious. I accepted. I knew I would have to wear a mask into the restaurant at least to sit down but decided it was worth it. The U district is by the University of Washington and there is a large open air shopping/restaurant district there. This was in April of this year I think. We parked in a packed parking lot. The place was extremely crowded. Mask compliance was 100 percent outdoors until we stepped out of the car. We walked to the restaurant. Nobody gave us any grief but nobody would make eye contact either. It was very creepy. The restaurant had been transformed into a plexiglass maze with large dividers even separating tables. It was a large restaurant so they actually had the room to do this. There were people sitting inside their plexiglass cages that were dutifully taking their mask off. Taking a bite to eat. Putting their mask back on. I decided I might not ever go into a large city again after that. Those people are insane.

Yep. Only the insane prefer slavery to freedom.
