WW II Veteran Blindsides FOX News

Over the weekend I caught a few minutes of Martha MacCallum on FOX (7-8 PM weekdays) interviewing a 95-year-old World War II veteran.  She asked him what he thought he was fighting for as a young Marine.  He said something about freedom and that he had the privilege of living a good life in a free country, and then the kicker that blindsided Martha: “Except for the last two months.”  Martha had no response.

The old veteran seemed bitter about the fact that at the end of his life his government had apparently decided that he and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren had to live as though they were in East Germany in 1965.  It was not the best way for FOX to kick off its three day worship-fest of all things military.
