That if Congress votes to stop subsidizing Planned Parenthood, and Obama promises to veto the accompanying budget, the Republicans will be responsible for shutting down the government? Why wouldn’t Obama – by refusing to sign Congress’ legislation – be responsible?
And you recall, do you not, how troublesome prior government shut-downs were: the bankruptcy sales by which post offices, welfare offices, libraries, and national parks were sold to large, corporate enterprises; and all the troops, police officers, and bureaucrats were left to wander the streets penniless and without hope. Of course, the CIA, NSA, Pentagon, FDA, and other agencies were not affected: they had been sold off to the dominant business interests decades earlier!
