Why, as a Former History Teacher, I Never Recommend Others to View the History Channel Discuss World War II

May 26, 2026

The History Channel’s Court Historian Sanitized 20 Episode Series on World War II, “The Great Bamboozle” Hosted by Tom Hanks, is as Bad and as Superficial as I Predicted.

I Viewed the First Three Episodes Monday Night.

The Major Disturbing, Inconvenient Element Never Discussed in the Lead Up to the Beginning of the Second World War (World War II)

Below are two excellent documentaries which discuss the Hitler-Stalin Pact (Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact) of August 23, 1939, signed two weeks before the German invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. Elements of these crucial facts were only cursorily mentioned in the Great Bamboozle, almost as an afterthought.

World War II Behind Closed Doors

World War II Behind Closed Doors: Stalin, the Nazis and the West was a 2008 6-episoded BBC/PBS documentary series on the role of Joseph Stalin and German-Soviet relations before, during, and after World War II, created by Laurence Rees and Andrew Williams.

It focuses upon new controversial material which only became available to the public after the fall of communism from the Soviet archives, following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. This episode deals extensively with the Hitler-Stalin Pact (Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact) of August 23, 1939, and how the Nazis and Soviets were close allies at the beginning of this global conflagration.

The Soviet Story

The powerful film shows the close connections – philosophical, political and organizational – between the Nazi and Soviet systems. Russians, who have spent decades whitewashing their own history and making Soviet communism palatable, protested the film.

The Amazing Ideological Similarity Between German National Socialism and Soviet Marxist/Leninist Communism
In 2014 these incompetent Bozos at The History Channel attempted a similar project, The World Wars, and it was an even bigger fiasco and flopperoo. It tried tackling both World War I & World War II. Ugh!

I discussed, deconstructed, and demolished it in the article below.

The History Channel’s Mendacious Propaganda Concerning the World Wars, By Charles Burris

I recommended viewers better have some Syrup of ipecac or Dimenhydrinate on hand to relieve whichever distressing bodily symptoms this mendacious exercise in duplicity, falsification, and obfuscation induces.
