Why Antifa and Chris Cuomo Are So Very Wrong

Antifa should be crushed by our authorities. Masked (anonymous) mobs of people shouldn’t be allowed on the streets causing mayhem, attacking other people, blocking traffic and destroying property.

It makes no difference if these thugs proclaim they’re against some other groups, like fascists, the establishment, white nationalists or alt-rightists. It does not matter one whit if they say they “support oppressed populations and protest the amassing of wealth by corporations and elites.” If you take it into your head that Exxon causes global warming, does that give you a right to assault Exxon employees or blow up a pipeline?

American revolutionaries in 1776 employed violent means as a last resort, but only after a long train of abuses had occurred which they articulated, and only after all peaceful avenues to rectify the injustices had been exhausted. Antifa articulates nothing as a group, doesn’t make clear its grievances, doesn’t try to have its grievances redressed, and goes about singling out, not a government oppressing it, but other private groups. The role assigned to any government is to keep the peace among its citizens. Accordingly, government should crush Antifa.

Thuggish behavior cannot be tolerated. Whom the Antifas say they’re against is totally irrelevant as against the fact that they may not exercise violence to intimidate and thwart others, to block legal and peaceful demonstrations, to attack and assault others. No one has a right to assault others and to riot. The label “anti-fascist” makes zero difference as against committing crimes. Labeling Religion X as the TRUE RELIGION doesn’t justify its members from chopping off the heads of unbelievers if they do not convert.

Most of us value order. We cannot have freedom, peace, security or justice with anonymous and armed mobs roaming the streets, disrupting the gatherings of others, hounding and harassing others, and getting away with crimes while authorities stand down and allow them to act violently. Authorities who allow this should be removed from office and/or sued for not doing their duty.

Who does not understand this? Among others, the Antifas do not. “Crow, who was involved with Antifa for almost 30 years, said members use violence as a means of self-defense and they believe property destruction does not equate to violence.” Attacking a speaker on a campus or attacking attendees to his speech is not self-defense. False, mistaken and stupid beliefs about self-defense are no excuse for criminality. Antifa is disturbing the peace, beating up on people, throwing Molotov cocktails and disrupting gatherings. None of that is self-defense, because no one has attacked them.

Here is the kernel of their mistaken and criminal thinking:

“The idea in Antifa is that we go where they (right-wingers) go. That hate speech is not free speech. That if you are endangering people with what you say and the actions that are behind them, then you do not have the right to do that.

“And so we go to cause conflict, to shut them down where they are, because we don’t believe that Nazis or fascists of any stripe should have a mouthpiece.”

Who appointed or hired Antifa to identify the “right-wingers”? Who anointed them to decide that these right-wingers were enemies who were “endangering people”? Who gave them the power to label other groups as Nazis or “fascists of any stripe”? Who authorized them to suppress the speech of their targets by violent means? Who gave Antifa the right to “cause conflict” and “shut them down where they are”?

You and I didn’t. The government didn’t. They took it on themselves. Antifa is assuming powers that no one is granting them but themselves. If you and I decide that conservatives are a danger to people, are we right to label them as fascists and to follow this up by closing down their events and gatherings by violent means? Is it right for us or Antifa or any private group of people to become a law unto itself of this warlike and violent kind? No, it is wrong, and it is wrong because we ourselves in forming such a group and acting violently are breaking the peace. This is why Antifa should be crushed and why it’s the duty of authorities to do their jobs and keep the peace.

Anyone who defends Antifa, that is, the kind of Antifa described above, is in the wrong. Chris Cuomo and CNN are in the wrong, for example. Cuomo is quoted

“It’s not about being right in the eyes of the law, but you also have to know what’s right and wrong in a moral, in a good and evil sense.

“That’s why people who show up to fight against bigots are not to be judged the same as the bigots, even if they do resort to the same kinds of petty violence.”

Chris Cuomo advocates that anyone or any group is justified (in the right) in labeling some other group as “bigots” and showing up to fight them. He thinks Antifa is in the right. To Cuomo, self-appointed individuals and groups are justified in trying to attain the end of suppressing bigots by the use of violent means. The “eyes of the law”, which means government keeping order and maintaining the peace, do not have precedence. Instead, fighting the bigots on one’s own recognizance has precedence.

Cuomo’s philosophy is a recipe for constant civil disorder and strife. If generalized, it means that society will break down. We are held together in society by common social, commercial and fraternal dealings with one another. The basis of our bonds is government enforcement, but that’s built upon some things of greater importance. They include a shared ethic of peace, order, politeness, propriety, tolerance, obeying law and other such virtues that we take for granted. What Cuomo advocates is a sectarian dominance whereby people labeled “bigots” are suppressed. This will lead to social warfare.

Cuomo’s anti-right wing bias has led him to a point of praising and philosophically justifying the forcible suppression of groups he or Antifa call bigots. He hereby reveals his totalitarian mentality.
