What Was I Thinking?!

November 11, 2014

I stopped in a Starbucks this morning and the woman at the cash register asked me, “are you a veteran, sir?”  I instinctively said “no,” but then immediately had second thoughts.  She didn’t say veteran of what.  Well, I”m certainly a veteran of the free market/antiwar movement, as epitomized by this Web site.  I’m a veteran of the classroom, of the book publishing business, have been a trout fisherman since age seven and a golfer since age 9, and quite a few other things.  I blew it.  Could have had a free cup of Starbucks coffee, offered to all “veterans” today.  So if you’re a coffee hound like me, and stop by a Starbucks today, don’t make the same mistake.  Let ’em pay through the nose by offering freebees to “veterans.”

(If that works, you might try the same strategy at Chuck E. Cheese, Great Clips, Hooters, Golden Corral, Shoney’s, IHOP, Handel’s Ice Cream, 24-Hour Fitness, Red Lobster, Krispy Kreme, and even a junk hauling company).
