Did you see the Wednesday, 2/3/21 episode of Tucker Carson Tonight? Carlson, in the opening segment, presented the most turgid defense of the “Oswald did it” nonsense that I have ever seen or heard. Not even Walter Cronkite, Gerald Posner, Vincent Bugliosi, or Arlen Specter could have spewed out such utter ahistorical BS in so short of time. He fully bought into the disinformation of “the legend” of Lee Harvey Oswald. Yes, the mainstream media attacked and hated GOP conservative Barry Goldwater, even the Republican establishment (led by Nelson Rockefeller and George Romney) hated and did not support AuH2O. I lived through those years and have read numerous books on Goldwater’s 1964 campaign. But it was not because they blamed “conservatives” or Goldwater for killing Kennedy. That is utter ahistorical nonsense Tucker concocted to fit his “the Left distorts historical truth” narrative. In fact, it was precisely the opposite which happened. There was only one major 1964 political book which focused on the JFK assassination, a small self-published, mass-produced best seller paperback which swept the nation, A Texan Looks at Lyndon: A Study in Illegitimate Power, by J. Evetts Haley, which indicted not Goldwater and conservatives but the man who most profited and stood to gain from JFK’s murder. Here is what the liberal Texas Monthly magazine said about this book decades later in 1987:
The initial press run of 100,000 copies caused little hubbub. But as the presidential campaign heated up, sales skyrocketed. By the time of the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City in late August, sales were averaging 50,000 a day, mostly in bulk orders–at thirty to fifty cents a book–from the John Birch Society and the Goldwater for President clubs, which hoped the book would swing close states to Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, Johnson’s Republican opponent. At almost 7.5 million copies, A Texan Looks at Lyndon had become the best-selling book of any kind in the country and the most successful political book of all time.
From the beginning the media fully accepted the Warren Commission Report that there was only one assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, and for well over 50 years gatekeepers have silenced critics of it. To even hint at any disagreement with the Report would destroy your career in journalism and you would be blackballed and exiled to utter darkness. The CIA even sent out a special instruction memo to its Operation Mockingbird media assets on how to attack these critics. This is where “conspiracy theory” first gained its widespread usage as a term of vilification, marginalization, or demonization.
Douglas Horne is the former Chief Analyst for Military Records for the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB), established by the JFK Records Act of 1992, which was tasked with defining, locating, and ensuring the declassification (to the maximum extent possible under the JFK Act) of all Federal Records considered “reasonably related” to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Horne details the numerous anomalies and interrupted chain of custody and destruction of key evidence regarding the president’s body, in the autopsy report(s), the autopsy photo collection (particularly the JFK brain photographs), the deliberate alteration and forgery of the extant Zapruder film, and the supposed “magic bullet” found at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Horne is the author of the five-volume book Inside the Assassination Records Review Board: The U.S. Government’s Final Attempt to Reconcile the Conflicting Medical Evidence in the Assassination of JFK, which discusses in detail deceit and deception in the official autopsy of John F. Kennedy. Watch Douglas P. Horne’s definitive five part video documentary series which summarizes his exceptional research, Altered History: Exposing Deceit and Deception in the JFK, Assassination Medical Evidence. Horne has also written the concise authoritative summary volume, JFK’s War with the National Security Establishment: Why Kennedy Was Assassinated.
Watch Horne discuss the book, One Hell of a Gamble: Khrushchev, Castro, and Kennedy, 1958-1964: The Secret History of the Cuban Missile Crisis, concerning how widow Jackie Kennedy and Attorney General Robert Kennedy sent a special emissary to the Soviets shortly after JFK’s murder to let them know that they did not believe the USSR was behind the assassination, but that it was a domestic conspiracy. Robert Kennedy Jr. still believes that the CIA murdered both his father and his uncle.
So disappointing. Carlson was perhaps the one remaining voice on cable/satellite news that dare speak truth to power, challenging groupthink and establishment lies and pomposity. And to see he fell for the biggest lie of them all, — hook, line, and sinker.
Carlson’s father, Richard Warner Carlson, was a high ranking propagandist for the deep state as the director of the Voice of America, and president of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Tucker has much in common with his CNN broadcasting journalist colleague Anderson Cooper. After college, Carlson tried to join the Central Intelligence Agency, but his application was denied, after which he decided to pursue a “career in journalism.” During college, Cooper spent two summers as an intern at the Central Intelligence Agency while studying political science, but turned to “journalism as a career.” Operation Mockingbird survives.
