Trump Stirs Resistance But U.S. Aggression Didn’t

It’s interesting to observe the anti-Trump reaction of the left-wing. It’s extraordinary. It’s both political and psychological.

The criminal wars of the U.S. in the past 25 years did nothing to rouse the left-wing, but a few of Trump’s comments that violated their norms of political correctness caused a great stir.

The accumulation and exercise of unconstitutional powers in government for decades did nothing to stir them, but a few exercises of it by Trump’s executive orders have them up in arms.

When Trump has merely continued or extended some policies of his predecessors, that too has elicited outbursts of criticism from leftists.

People who pride themselves on being democrats or who favor democracy and rule of law have countenanced remarks about killing and assassinating Trump and burning down the White House.

The left-wing press relentlessly interprets every statement, every policy, every appointment as foul, demented, inept, and confused, from the transition onward. Obama walked on water.

People who have lived with the Electoral College, an institution we’ve had since 1789, now repeat over and over again that Trump lost, because of the popular vote, which he is correct in saying was in a few large states that he knew he’d lose.

People whose side has lost have been so disappointed in their expectations that they have been unable to accept the result. They have reacted with ongoing fear and anger. They cannot bring themselves to believe that they lost.

The way in which Trump is demonized in people’s minds is by recitation or chanting, a form of self-indoctrination, and by reading articles that confirm beliefs. Marches and expressions of anti-Trump solidarity do the same thing. Such terms as fascist, misogynist, xenophobic, Islamophobic are regularly repeated. The new thing is “resistance”.

Ordinary people who couldn’t stir themselves over their government’s use of torture, over imprisonment of whistleblowers, over mass surveillance, over foreign aggressions, over the creation of millions of refugees, over constant lies and propaganda about foreign battles, these people are now busy trying to control their disappointment at loss by focusing their hate on Trump.

Ordinary people are being led by much more informed and devious left-wing interests and organizations who have long sought to remake this society according to their crazed political and social views and who have achieved a lot of success at it in certain quarters. Now they find themselves openly attacked by a president who knows how to embarrass them and seems to know how to make them expend their energies in hypocritical attacks against him as a target.

Here is one of the very few articles that indicates what Trump is up to domestically. It suggests that he is organized and knows exactly what he’s doing. His rapid start indicates the same.

I can easily find a very great deal that’s very wrong with Trump’s policies, as I could with Clinton’s. That’s beside the point I’m making above. There will be plenty of time to criticize Trump’s policies. At the moment, it is this mass and unremitting left-wing attack on Trump that is notable.
